Each of the products listed below has in some way played a part in strengthening my financial life. Over time I will try to share more of what I have learned about personal finance and the tools I use. But for now check out these products and, if they are a good fit for you, use the referral links to sign up.

Wealthfront

My investment strategy is very simple – low cost index funds invested for the longterm. You can do this yourself with a traditional discount brokerage (see below) and I recommend doing so if you have the time and ability. If not, Wealthfront is a solid alternative; they invest your money in a mix of ETFs (Exchange Traded Funds) based on your personalized risk tolerance. They use low cost index ETFs and charge a low 0.25% advisory fee. Weathfront offers some advantages over the do-it-yourself option, such as tax loss harvesting and automatic rebalancing. Do some research and check out some of the other options (e.g., Betterment and Acorns). But if you decide to give Wealthfront a try use the link below and get your first $5,000 managed for free.

E-Trade

E-Trade is the discount brokerage I use for most of my non-retirement investments. Honestly I’m not sure how I ended up with E-Trade, probably started with some promotion and included a merger or two. But I have no complaints and they meet my investing needs. You should definitely research the other options (e.g., Vanguard and Fidelity) as well. If you decide E-Trade is the best fit for you, use the referral link below and get a little bonus when you fund your account.

Policy Genius

If you haven’t shopped your home or auto insurance in a few years, you can probably save some money. I used Policy Genius a few years ago and literally cut my auto insurance in half. It’s easy to get several free quotes and the process to switch was painless. Definitely worth checking out. They also do life and disability insurance.

Discover Card

This was my first credit card and I’ve been a member for nearly 25 years. The rotating 5% cash back categories are great. I usually use the cash back for discounted gift cards, which adds to the value. There is no annual fee and you can get a $50 statement credit with your first purchase if you use the link below.
