This Thanksgiving try to remember we live in an amazing world; a world with opportunities unimaginable even a couple generations ago. Despite all the turmoil of 2020, we still have much to be thankful for. However, many of us choose not to see it and instead focus on the negative. I do not want to diminish the pain and suffering many have experienced, but so much of our perceived stress and hardship today is self-inflicted, created by how we choose to see the world.
We can choose to:
- be optimistic or be pessimistic.
- make the best of the circumstances or complain about the things we can’t control.
- see the good in others or assume the worst.
- focus on things that bring us together or focus on things that divide us.
- believe our opponents have good intentions or believe our opponents are motivated by hate.
- educate others by sharing our knowledge and experience or attack others by questioning their motive and intelligence.
Each day we make hundreds of choices; these choices have far more impact on our lives than anything others say or do. Choose wisely, chose to be thankful.
